Gladysdale Primary School has been chosen as one of the partner schools to launch and lead the Respectful Relationships program in 2018. The program is a whole school approach modelling and teaching respect, equality, resilience, healthy relationships and confidence.
The Healthy Relationship Program has 8 units that are covered in a two year cycle:
Implementing Respectful Relationships in all schools is a recommendation of the Royal Commission into Family Violence.
Respectful Relationships is a core component of the new Victorian Curriculum. Our whole school approach to Respectful Relationships goes beyond curriculum, recognising that to drive real change, classroom learning needs to be reinforced by what is modelled within the school community.
The whole school approach will include looking at schools’ practices and policies relating to gender and driving meaningful cultural change. The approach will build a culture of respect and equality in our schools – as learning places and as workplaces that achieve long-term change in the community.
Embedding Respectful Relationships in schools and early childhood settings is key to preventing family violence in the long term.
